Model of the Month: August 2025 – Hot Wheels Ferrari 499P (Circuit Legends)
Today, let me tell you two stories—one about racing glory, and another about diecast history. Together, they lead us to our Model of the Month: the Hot Wheels Ferrari 499P, part of the Car Culture Circuit Legends collection.
Story One: Ferrari and Le Mans
In 1949, Ferrari entered the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the very first time with the Ferrari 166 MM. Against all odds, they won. That victory sparked a golden age—by 1965, Ferrari had claimed nine wins at Le Mans, more than any rival, including Jaguar and Bentley.
A legend was born.

But legends can also rest. As told in Ford v Ferrari, by 1966 the tables had turned, and Ferrari’s dominance faded. For the next 58 years, Ferrari would not see another overall victory at Le Mans.
Then came the Ferrari 499P. In 2023, this striking red hybrid hypercar stormed back onto the Circuit de la Sarthe and reclaimed the crown with car #51. Since then, Ferrari has secured three straight victories, marking the start of a new era of dominance in endurance racing.

Story Two: Ferrari and Hot Wheels
Hot Wheels released their very first Ferrari casting in 1970—the Ferrari 312P. Over the years, the partnership brought us countless iconic models, from vintage racers to modern exotics. But in 2014, the licensing agreement ended. The last Ferrari casting was the LaFerrari, closing an unforgettable chapter for collectors worldwide.
Fast forward to 2025, and the partnership has finally been renewed. And what better way to celebrate than with the new king of Le Mans, the Ferrari 499P #51?
The Model: Ferrari 499P by Hot Wheels (Circuit Legends)
Hot Wheels marks Ferrari’s comeback with an impressive premium release. As part of the Car Culture Circuit Legends line, this casting delivers where it matters most:
- Metal on Metal: Both body and base are diecast, giving it real weight and presence.
- Rubber Wheels: True-to-scale racing slicks add realism and premium quality.
- Authentic Decals & Sponsors: Featuring accurate race livery inspired by the 2023 Le Mans–winning #51 car.
- Sleek Profile: The sculpting captures the Rebellion-chassis-based hypercar’s aggressive stance and aerodynamic flow.
That said, this is still Hot Wheels—so a couple of details are missing:
- No side mirrors, which stand out on the real car.
- No visible taillights, which leaves the rear end looking a little bare.
Even with these small omissions, the 499P remains one of the most exciting Ferrari castings ever released. It’s the perfect balance of historic significance, modern design, and diecast collectability.
Why This Model?
We chose the Hot Wheels Ferrari 499P as August’s Model of the Month because it embodies both sides of Ferrari’s story: their long-awaited return to Le Mans glory, and their long-awaited return to Hot Wheels. It’s more than a miniature—it’s the start of a new chapter in two legends.
