Model of the Month - December 2025

Model of the Month: December 2025 – Kyosho (MOTN)

Hasemi Motor Sport Castrol Nissan Skyline GT-R Gr. A – 1990

To close an incredible year of collecting, innovation, and community, our Model of the Month for December 2025 had to be something truly special. This time, the winner is not just a model—but a glimpse into the future of diecast display:
the Kyosho (MOTN) Hasemi Motor Sport Castrol Skyline GT-R Gr. A (1990).

Godzilla and Its Racing Legacy

Few cars carry the weight of legend like the Nissan Skyline GT-R, forever known as Godzilla. In Group A racing, the GT-R didn’t just compete—it dominated. With relentless performance, advanced technology, and ruthless consistency, it rewrote the rules of touring car racing worldwide.

The Castrol-liveried #23 Hasemi Motorsport GT-R is one of the most iconic representations of that era. Aggressive, purposeful, and unmistakable, it embodies everything that made the R32 GT-R a motorsport icon, and did we mention that it won the Macau GP in 1990?

The Model: Kyosho MOTN – First Delivery, First Impression

This release is the first delivered model from Kyosho’s brand-new MOTN (Middle of the Night) series, with three more variants already announced.

  1. Nissan GT-R (R34) nismo Clubman Race SPEC Gun Metallic
  2. Subaru WRX STI NBR 2023 (with a collector's book)
  3. Subaru WRX STI NBR 2024 (with a collector's book)

From the moment you see it, it’s clear this is not a standard 1:64 release.

The level of detailing is exceptional:

  • Ultra-sharp livery printing, including extremely fine sponsor text that remains crisp even under magnification

  • Precisely shaped side mirrors, delicate yet accurate

  • Highly developed interior, complete with a full roll cage

  • Blackout wheels paired with rubber tires, giving the model a serious racing stance

  • Acrylic headlight and taillight inserts that are perfectly smooth and seamlessly integrated, preserving the realism of the bodywork

Every angle reinforces Kyosho’s reputation for precision and scale fidelity.

The model itself is mounted on a plastic display base, securely bolted in place, and protected by a clear acrylic case, making it both display-ready and safe for long-term collection.

MOTN – Middle of the Night System

What truly sets this model apart is the MOTN system.

When placed on the dedicated MOTN base and connected to a Power Surge, the model comes to life with working LED headlights and taillights—a first-of-its-kind feature in this scale.

Important collector-friendly details:

  • You only need one MOTN base, which can be reused with different MOTN-equipped models
  • The system opens up a new way to display your collection—as a desk piece, shelf highlight, or even office decoration
  • It’s also ideal for diorama builders and photographers
  • And, of course, to take some amazing photos like the ones below

Why This Model Won

The Kyosho MOTN Skyline GT-R didn’t win Model of the Month on looks alone—though those would have been enough. It won because it represents innovation, pushing 1:64 scale into new territory while honoring one of the greatest racing legends of all time.

Closing the Year

As 2025 comes to an end, this model feels like the perfect finale. It celebrates history, craftsmanship, and forward-thinking design—everything that made this year so exciting for collectors.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
Here’s to a strong finish—and an even stronger year ahead.
