The Honda Accord became a serious force in Japanese touring-car racing, turning a familiar family sedan into a high-performance competition machine.
The fifth-generation Accord provided Honda with a strong platform for touring-car competition, and the JTCC era produced some of the most spectacularly modified Japanese racing sedans of the 1990s. The PIAA-backed Accord combined aggressive aerodynamic development with Honda's engineering approach, transforming the everyday family car into a dedicated circuit racer.
