The Ferrari 348 was introduced in 1989 as the successor to the 328, featuring a mid-mounted V8 engine, a five-speed manual transmission and styling influenced by Ferrari's contemporary Testarossa design language. Ferrari introduced the 348 Challenge series in the early 1990s, giving owners a structured way to compete in cars prepared for circuit racing. The championship helped establish a tradition of Ferrari one-make racing that continued with later models such as the F355 and 360 Challenge.
