The second-generation Subaru Impreza debuted in 2000 and continued the nameplate’s strong connection to rally competition. The WRX STI combined a turbocharged horizontally opposed engine, all-wheel drive and a chassis developed for demanding driving. Following a 2002 facelift, the front end adopted the distinctive headlight shape that earned the car its “teardrop” nickname.
