The Ford GT40 Mk II #2 made history at Le Mans in 1966, giving Ford its first overall victory at the world's most famous endurance race.

The GT40 Mk II was Ford's answer to Ferrari's dominance at Le Mans, evolving the original GT40 into a 7.0-liter V8-powered endurance racer built to withstand the extreme demands of the 24-hour race. At the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the #2 Shelby-American Ford was driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon. The car completed 360 laps and was officially classified first, with the #1 GT40 of Ken Miles and Denny Hulme finishing second. The race marked Ford's historic first overall Le Mans victory and a decisive moment in the Ford-versus-Ferrari era.
